The Ondo State Command of the Western Nigeria Security Network, also known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully rescued five kidnap victims without paying the N150 million ransom demanded by the abductors.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Akure, the state commander of Amotekun, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that the victims were rescued on May 6 and May 10.

Adeleye attributed the successful operations to recent directives authorizing security agencies, especially Amotekun, to carry out forest operations across the state.

He said that four of the victims were abducted on May 10 at Iromeh along the Lagos–Ore Expressway, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N100 million. However, the Amotekun team responded quickly after receiving a distress call and launched a rescue mission into the forest.

The fifth victim was kidnapped on May 6 along the Ikare-Owo Road. Although he sustained machete injuries, he was rescued without any ransom being paid. His captors had demanded N50 million.

“He is currently receiving medical care at our facility,” Adeleye stated. “We acted on credible intelligence and remain committed to treating all information with the utmost confidentiality.”

He added that Amotekun operatives are maintaining 24-hour patrols, with rangers stationed in the forests to respond swiftly to any threats.

The commander emphasized that the Ondo State Government remains dedicated to safeguarding lives and property and has adopted a zero-tolerance approach to crime, kidnapping, and armed robbery.
