The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Saturday, June 28, 2025, as the date for its mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), targeting a total of 96,838 candidates.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, made this known in a statement released on Sunday. He stated that candidates scheduled for the mop-up exam can begin printing their examination notification slips from Monday, June 23.

According to the statement, the first session on exam day will begin at 8:00 a.m., and candidates in that session are advised to arrive at least one hour before the start time.

“This mop-up examination is intended for 5,096 candidates who were carried over due to unresolved issues, as well as those who failed biometric verification during the initial UTME,” Benjamin said.

He also noted that 91,742 candidates who missed either the main UTME or the rescheduled exam have been given another chance through a special consideration exclusive to the 2025 UTME cycle. The mop-up test will be conducted in 183 designated centers across the country, with some candidates placed on standby.

Additionally, the Board disclosed that 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers had been suspended or delisted for various offenses, including technical failures and involvement in examination malpractice. Some of these centers are under ongoing security investigations.

“Centres involved in technical lapses during the mock, main, or resit exams have been sanctioned. A significant number of others under investigation for malpractices will face delisting and possible prosecution,” the statement added.

JAMB commended the efforts of the State Security Service (SSS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their commitment to tackling identity fraud and exam malpractice. The nationwide investigation has led to the arrest and prosecution of several offenders, including a few JAMB staff, professional exam impersonators, and operators of fraudulent tutorial centers and schools.
