We don’t want you in APC, Ned Nwoko tells Oborevwori

The Senator representing Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko has urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to abandon any plans of defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that the ruling party has no interest in his membership.

Nwoko made this statement in Agbor, Delta State, during the official defection of members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) under the Delta Unity Group (DUG) in Ika Federal Constituency to the APC.

He expressed strong confidence that the APC in Delta State is well-positioned to defeat Governor Oborevwori and the PDP in the 2027 general elections.

This comes amid ongoing speculation about the governor’s potential defection to the APC, though his aides have repeatedly denied such claims in recent months.

According to Senator Nwoko, “Oborevwori wants to come to APC, but tell him to stay where he is. He will be defeated. We don’t want him in APC.”

Nwoko’s assertion was made against the backdrop of President Tinubu’s purported interest in winning Delta State come 2027.

According to Nwoko, while this might be the reason behind the governor’s desire to join the APC, the party does not need his membership to win Delta State.

“Delta will surely become an APC state come 2027. Twenty-five years of corrupt governance by the PDP in the state is enough. We must take over. The time has come for that to happen,” he added.

He emphasized that the APC is poised to deliver better governance and that the party’s growing strength and momentum will ensure its victory in 2027.

“Don’t let anyone doubt who you are. The next governor will be formed by you. As you go home, tell them that the next governor of Delta State will be formed by the APC. Today, we are emboldened and happy that a large political group like the DUG is following my footsteps in joining the APC,” Nwoko said.

Senator Ned Nwoko shares a similar view with former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, regarding the possibility of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori defecting to the APC.

Omo-Agege made it clear that while the APC remains open to receiving new members from the PDP, neither Oborevwori nor former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa would be welcomed into the party.

He also expressed confidence in the APC’s rising influence in Delta State, citing the defection of over 60% of PDP members since 2023. According to him, this momentum places the APC in a strong position to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and dominate the 2027 elections—retaining all Senate seats and winning both the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly seats.
