The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) generated a total revenue of N11.5 billion from nomination form sales, levies, and dues collected from political aspirants and officeholders between February and March 2023.
Of this amount, N7.9 billion was earmarked for state congresses, the national convention, and campaign activities for the 2023 general elections.
This was contained in a report compiled by the party’s Director of Finance, Ismaila Yunusa Alkali, and signed by Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum. Thomas Segun of T.O. Thomas and Co., Certified Accountants, signed on behalf of the auditing firm.
In compliance with the Electoral Act, the PDP submitted an audited financial report to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which revealed that the bulk of the revenue originated from the sale of forms for Presidential, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly positions.
A detailed breakdown of expenses indicates that N3.1 billion was allocated for state congresses and the national convention, while N1.7 billion was distributed to states and individual candidates. Other significant expenditures included N72.07 million for allowances for party agents, N233.4 million for training and workshops, and N166.5 million for personnel costs.
An additional N27.7 million covered bus rentals, while travel expenses, including aircraft charters, amounted to N693 million. Furthermore, N370 million was spent on door-to-door mobilisation.
