The Federal Government has warned Nigerians against travelling out of the country without valid travel documents, stressing that such actions are illegal and could expose individuals to serious dangers.

In a public alert shared on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, DCI AS Akinlabi, said all international travel must be undertaken with a valid passport, visa where necessary, and other approved immigration documents.

The agency warned that bypassing official procedures or using unauthorised border routes violates Nigerian immigration laws and could lead to severe consequences.

The Immigration Service also expressed concern over the increasing activities of fraudulent migration syndicates that deceive unsuspecting Nigerians, especially youths, with fake promises of jobs, education, and better opportunities abroad.

According to the agency, many of these illegal migration schemes often end in forced labour, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation.

The NIS stressed that no legitimate travel arrangement bypasses recognised immigration processes or official border posts.

It further advised members of the public to report suspicious migration activities to the nearest Immigration Service office or other relevant security agencies.

The agency also urged Nigerians to verify all travel and recruitment offers through official channels and avoid dealing with unregistered agents promoting irregular migration.
