A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Tony Ehilebo, has alleged that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is the main architect of the lingering crisis rocking the opposition party.

Ehilebo made the allegation on Tuesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, claiming that Wike remains bitter over the outcome of the PDP presidential primary held in 2022, which he lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

According to him, Wike’s grievance over the primary led him to work against the PDP during the 2023 general election by supporting the All Progressives Congress. Ehilebo described the minister’s actions as unbecoming of someone who had benefited immensely from the party over the years.

He said history would judge Wike harshly, noting that the PDP had, at every stage, provided him with opportunities for political growth. He added that Wike’s conduct fell below the standards expected of a leader and role model within the party.

The PDP chieftain further alleged that Wike’s attitude contributed to the defection of prominent figures, including former PDP vice-presidential candidate in 2019, Peter Obi, and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
