Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, is set to host an extraordinary family event in Abuja, where nine of his children will be married on the same day in a single, large-scale ceremony.
An invitation card circulating on social media indicates that the joint wedding will take place at 1:30 p.m. on February 6, 2026, at the Central Mosque, Abuja. The unprecedented ceremony will see five sons and four daughters of the former governor take their marital vows alongside their respective partners in one unified event.
The invitation lists the couples as Ibrahim, Suraj, Safiya, Maryam, Aisha, Fahad, Muh’d, Nana Firdausi and Farida, underscoring the rare scale and coordination involved in the family celebration.
Confirming the development, the All Progressives Congress spokesperson in Zamfara State, Yusuf Idris, told journalists that preparations for the ceremony were already at an advanced stage. He described the wedding as a major milestone for the Matawalle family and disclosed that committees had been set up to ensure the event runs smoothly.
According to Idris, emphasis is being placed on logistics and coordination to deliver an orderly ceremony that reflects the stature of the family and the magnitude of the occasion.
The planned mass wedding has generated widespread reactions on social media and within political circles, with many observers noting the rarity of such a synchronised matrimonial ceremony involving multiple siblings. While an official guest list has not yet been released, the event is expected to draw prominent political figures, dignitaries and well-wishers from across the country, potentially making it one of the most talked-about family ceremonies in the federal capital this year.
