Senator Friday Benson Konbowei, representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection was formally announced on Thursday during plenary, after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read his letter of resignation from the PDP on the floor of the Senate.
In his letter, Senator Konbowei cited the lingering internal crises within the PDP as the reason for his decision to leave the party, describing the situation as “intractable.”
The defection adds to the growing number of lawmakers switching allegiance to the ruling APC amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the next election cycle.
