A 21-year-old woman, identified simply as Bina, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her partner—the father of her two children—to death during a domestic dispute.

The incident took place on Jakpa Road, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. Bina was paraded by the Delta State Police Command on Wednesday in Asaba.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the couple was not legally married but had been living together. “They had ongoing issues, which led to a fight. During the altercation, she stabbed the man in the chest, near the heart. He bled to death,” Edafe said.

When asked about what led to the confrontation, Bina admitted that an argument began after she asked a neighbor to help recharge her phone, which angered the deceased. “He said I shouldn’t have gone to the neighbor and threatened to shut down the shop he opened for me. It escalated from there, and I used the weapon during the fight,” she confessed.

She added that she had briefly left the house earlier that Sunday but returned later the same night. By Monday, the two were not on speaking terms before the fatal incident occurred.
