The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old woman, Fatima Ibrahim, over allegations of sexually assaulting a minor who worked as her househelp in Azare, located in Katagum Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, stated that the incident was reported to the Azare Divisional Headquarters on March 1, 2025.
According to Wakil, Fatima, a resident of Tashan Jama’are, was allegedly involved in the abuse of a 12-year-old boy employed to assist her with her business.
He further revealed that the victim, a student of Arabic studies, had been living in the suspect’s home, where he was reportedly subjected to inappropriate behavior over a two-month period.
“During an interview, the victim described how the defendant, who he trusted as a maternal figure, engaged him in acts of a sexual nature, especially when her other visitors were not present,” Wakil stated.
The boy recounted being given a mixture involving lemon juice, which he believes may have been tampered with before these incidents occurred. The victim indicated that he had been subjected to such behaviour on multiple occasions.
“During the subsequent interrogation, the defendant admitted to her actions. The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the suspect will undergo profiling and be charged in court for the established offence,” he added.
