Emmanuel Okotie-Eboh, a former regent of Warri Kingdom in Delta State, and son of flamboyant former Nigeria’s first Finance Minister, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, has identified the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, as one of the most principled and effective politicians in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

Speaking in Warri, Delta State, Okotie-Eboh, who was Chairman of the Great Ogboru Campaign Council, applauded Wike’s political integrity and unwavering commitment to development, leadership, and national unity, calling him a rare example of principled governance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Nyesom Wike is a politician with integrity, focus, and conviction,” he said. “Unlike many others driven by opportunism, Wike has become a household name because of his consistency and fearless pursuit of what is right.”

Highlighting Wike’s achievements as the former Governor of Rivers State, Okotie-Eboh commended his bold infrastructural agenda. He noted Wike’s successful partnership with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to deliver major road projects across challenging riverine terrains, bringing real development to grassroots communities in the Niger Delta.

“Rather than misusing public funds, Wike invested in critical infrastructure, transforming Rivers State into a model of development. This level of visionary leadership is rare in Nigerian politics today,” Okotie-Eboh stated.

On national politics, Okotie-Eboh praised Wike for his stance during the 2023 general elections, where he advocated for power rotation to Southern Nigeria in line with the principles of equity and fairness. Despite being a high-ranking member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike stood against his party’s presidential candidate to defend zoning arrangements, yet continued to support the PDP at the state level.

“Wike’s refusal to abandon the PDP or defect to the APC shows he values integrity over personal ambition. He stood by his belief that political agreements must be honoured—a virtue sorely lacking in today’s politics,” he added.

Commenting on Wike’s ongoing feud with suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Okotie-Eboh described it as another example of Wike’s commitment to political accountability. He noted that Wike had selflessly supported an Ijaw candidate for governor and expected governance based on shared agreements, not manipulation.

Okotie-Eboh further praised Wike’s bold reforms in Abuja as FCT Minister, including the demolition of illegal structures that violate the Abuja master plan. He said Wike’s work in restoring the capital’s beauty and order aligns perfectly with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

“Wike’s dedication to enforcing planning regulations in the FCT—regardless of who is affected—shows he is not beholden to power brokers or ‘money bags.’ He is focused on results, not revenge,” he concluded.

The statement positions Wike as a symbol of political courage and public accountability—traits the Nigerian political system urgently needs
