Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has reportedly been flown to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
According to reports by Western Post, sources close to the minister confirmed the development on Tuesday.
The report comes just days after presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed earlier claims that Edun had been taken abroad for medical care. The presidency had maintained that while the minister was indeed ill, he was receiving treatment within Nigeria.
Onanuga also disclosed that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, had been designated to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the ongoing World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) meetings in Washington, D.C., in Edun’s absence.
