The United States has delivered critical military supplies to Nigerian security agencies to support ongoing operations across the country, the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced on Tuesday via X.

“U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” the post read.

The delivery aligns with the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen security cooperation with the US, including enhanced intelligence sharing, defence equipment provision, and other support against terrorists and violent extremist groups.

In November, a Nigerian delegation led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu visited Washington to strengthen security partnerships. The delegation, which included the Attorney General, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Defence Intelligence, and Inspector General of Police, met with senior US officials across Congress, the White House, State Department, National Security Council, and Department of War.

During the discussions, the Nigerian delegation rejected allegations of genocide in the country, highlighting that violent attacks affect families across religious and ethnic lines. The talks aimed to correct misconceptions, reinforce mutual trust, and advance coordinated protection of vulnerable communities, particularly in the Middle Belt.

Both countries agreed to implement a non-binding cooperation framework and establish a Joint Working Group to ensure a unified approach to security. The US also pledged complementary support, including humanitarian assistance and technical help to strengthen early-warning mechanisms, while Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to civilian protection and national security.
