The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, has suspended a lecturer, Mr. Chigozie Jude Odum, from the Department of Archeology and Tourism, over allegations of impregnating four female students within four years of his appointment.
According to a letter dated February 15, 2025, signed by the Deputy Registrar, Achiuwa F.C. (Mrs), on behalf of the Registrar, Odum’s suspension was confirmed.
The letter instructed him to hand over all university documents in his possession to the Head of the Department.
As part of the suspension, the university management directed Odum to stay away from his duty post.
Additionally, the bursar was instructed to place him on half salary pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations.
The university’s decision to suspend Odum reflects its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
The investigation into the allegations is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on its findings.
