The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has confirmed the deaths of two notorious terrorist leaders, Kachalla Gwammade and Kachalla Shehu, in Zamfara State.

He announced this during the closing ceremony of the CDS Joint Task Force Commanders Conference at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Gen. Musa explained that the successful operation has left wanted terrorist leader Bello Turji scrambling to escape as pressure mounts on him.

As part of Operation “Show No Mercy,” troops eliminated Gwammade, Shehu, and four of their associates in Ruwan Dawa village, Maru Local Government Area. The operation, carried out by troops from Hannu Tara camp with support from local vigilantes, resulted in a fierce gun battle that saw six criminals neutralized and several firearms and motorcycles recovered.

Gwammade, who operated from Chabi village, was also related to the late Kachalla Sani Black, a warlord killed in recent operations. This success comes amid intensified efforts against terrorists in the northwest of Zamfara.

At the conference, with the theme “Enhancing Jointness Across All Theaters of Operation,” Gen. Musa praised the participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reflect on collective efforts and challenges in securing the nation. The event also fostered practical steps to improve collaboration among security agencies.

Gen. Musa stressed the importance of a unified approach, noting that the strength of Joint Task Forces lies in their cohesion. He also acknowledged the lessons learned and the potential for those insights to strengthen future operations.

He concluded by urging commanders to apply the lessons and resolutions from the conference in their missions. “The challenges ahead may be tough, but with our collective resolve, we will overcome them,” he said.
