Troops of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) have arrested 13 individuals following intelligence-led raids on suspected hideouts of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Delta State.

The operations, conducted between July 26 and August 1, 2025, targeted locations in the Abacha Camp and Fulani Camp areas of Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, stated that all suspects were handed over to the 63 Military Intelligence Regiment for profiling.

“Four of the suspects—Hossanah John, Obassey Maduabichi, Nwamini Nduka, and Aguyi Uchenna—were confirmed to be IPOB/ESN collaborators and will be transferred to higher authorities for further action. The remaining nine, found to have no links to the group, will be released to their families upon provision of sureties,” Rijau said.

Commander of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 1 OPDS, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, praised the troops’ efforts and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining peace and security across Delta State.
