A family in Lagos has been thrown into mourning after a reckless driver crushed their 12-year-old daughter to death and injured her 15-year-old sibling on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred around Ogundare Bus Stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway when the killer driver sleeping on the BRT lane hit the children who were on their way from school.
The siblings were rushed to the Orile Agege General Hospital, where the younger child died shortly afterwards.
At the time of this report on Tuesday morning, the older child had been taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where medical teams are battling to stabilise her.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Olohundare Jimoh, who confirmed the incident, promised a thorough investigation and justice for the victims.
CP Jimoh warned drivers against reckless driving and overspeeding, adding that they should adhere to traffic regulations and speed limits.
