The Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has dissociated himself from a social media publication claiming he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Media Consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo dismissed the report as false and mischievous, describing it as the handiwork of detractors bent on tarnishing his reputation and undermining his commitment to combating crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
“The attention of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, has been drawn to the above subject matter, which is trending on social media platforms,” the statement read.
“We wish to state unequivocally and unambiguously that Tompolo did not author the said publication. High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. It is clearly the handiwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are out to discredit and pull him down because of his strong stance against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta,” the statement added.
He maintained that such efforts to smear his name would not deter him from carrying out his mandate to rid the region of illegal oil operations.
Tompolo also reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s renewed hope agenda, reiterating his firm endorsement of the president’s second-term ambition.
“We wish to reassure the Federal Government, led by our dynamic President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support the renewed agenda of his government. Once again, the Federal Government and the general public should ignore the said publication,” the statement concluded.
Tompolo has been a key player in Nigeria’s renewed fight against oil theft, with Tantita Security Services spearheading several successful operations to curb pipeline vandalism and recover stolen crude in the Niger Delta.
