President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected back in Abuja tonight following a two-nation diplomatic tour that included visits to Saint Lucia in the Caribbean and Brazil in South America.

His return was confirmed on Saturday afternoon in a post by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, via his verified X account, @aonanuga1956.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja today after his two-nation visit to Saint Lucia and Brazil,” Onanuga stated.

The President departed Nigeria on Saturday, June 28, embarking on a strategic outreach aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s engagement with regions traditionally underrepresented in its foreign relations framework.

His first stop was Saint Lucia, where he made a landmark visit to deepen ties and explore new partnerships with Caribbean nations. During his stay, President Tinubu engaged with leaders of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), signaling Nigeria’s growing interest in Caribbean diplomacy and South-South cooperation.

From there, he traveled to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro. On the sidelines of the summit, he met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The two leaders co-chaired a high-level Nigeria-Brazil bilateral meeting focused on enhancing trade, infrastructure investment, and cultural collaboration between Africa’s most populous nation and Latin America’s largest economy.

With his return, attention will now shift to domestic priorities and the implementation of key diplomatic and investment commitments made during the trip.
