President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed Taraba State as Nigeria’s agricultural powerhouse, calling for its vast agricultural potential to be fully utilized to strengthen food security and drive economic development.

Delivering the president’s message at the inaugural Taraba State International Investment Summit (TARAVEST) in Jalingo on Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized that the administration’s ongoing reforms aim to build a robust and inclusive economy through strategic use of human and natural resources.

“Food sufficiency is the foundation of national stability, which is why agriculture stands at the heart of our national development strategy,” Tinubu stated.

He noted that several federal initiatives are already in motion to boost agricultural output and reduce the nation’s reliance on food imports.

“From tea and coffee plantations in the highlands to thriving livestock farming, Taraba’s agricultural potential is unmatched. It is a vital contributor to our food and economic goals,” the president said.

He urged both domestic and international investors to collaborate with the federal and state governments to transform regions like Taraba into thriving industrial zones.

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, also addressed the summit, stressing the importance of supporting local investors to attract foreign capital. “Foreign investors follow the lead of successful local investors,” he said.

Tony Elumelu, Chairman of UBA, underscored the need for enhanced security, reliable power supply, and a business-friendly climate to unlock investment opportunities.

Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq—represented by Niger State Governor Umar Bago—affirmed that Taraba possesses Taraba to welcome investors as partners in progress.

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas declared the state open for investment, promoting it as a secure and resource-rich destination for ventures in agriculture, mining, and tourism.

Former House of Representatives Minority Leader and TARAVEST Planning Committee Chairman Ndudi Elumelu also urged global investors to tap into Taraba’s abundant resources, assuring them of strong returns.
