Three members of the same family were hospitalized after being struck by bullets from an accidental discharge by a vigilante in the Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident on Wednesday via a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Makama, the shooting occurred on Monday afternoon in the Gidan Mutum Daya area when 35-year-old Tukur Mustapha, a member of the Community Watch Corps, unintentionally fired his weapon.
The victims were identified as 28-year-old Murja Lawal, her two-year-old daughter, Anisa, and her younger brother, 26-year-old Abba Lawal.
“All three sustained leg injuries and were taken to Katsina Teaching Hospital for treatment,” Makama reported.
He also noted that the suspect fled the scene following the incident, and efforts are currently underway to apprehend him.
