Armed terrorists have killed three youths during a midnight invasion of Pwomol Village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack, which occurred around midnight, reportedly targeted vigilante youths who were keeping watch over the community. It is the second assault on the village within one week, raising fresh concerns over security in the area.

One other person sustained critical injuries during the нападение and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident, revealing that security operatives arrested one suspected attacker at about 1:00 a.m. near the Redemption Camp area between Heipang and Kassa.

According to Tengwong, the suspect was apprehended with blood stains on his body and is presently in the custody of security operatives at Sector 4 in Barkin Ladi.

The BYM, under the leadership of its National President, Dalyop Mwantiri, condemned the attack and called on security agencies to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident.

The association also demanded that the arrested suspect be swiftly prosecuted and compelled to provide useful information that could lead to the arrest of other perpetrators and their collaborators.

While commending the prompt response of the Operation Enduring Peace, the group urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

“The Berom Youth Moulders-Association remains committed to the protection of lives and the pursuit of justice for victims of violent attacks across Berom land and beyond,” the statement added.
