Academic and other activities have been disrupted at the Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State following the killing of two students by suspected armed robbers inside the institution’s campus on Sunday night.
Two other students, who were identified by their first names Miracle and Samuel, were also taken away by the hoodlums, who are reportedly demanding an N30 million ransom before their release.
One of the dead victims, identified simply as Emma, was rounding up his Higher National Diploma (HND 2) programme in Mechanical Engineering before he met his unfortunate end on Sunday night.

Eyewitnesses’ accounts of the incident indicated that the armed robbery gang carried out attacks on hostels, including those behind African House when they ran into the victims sitting outside their hostels.
“The robbers were escaping after their operation when they met the students outside their veranda. It is suspected that the first victim (Emma) was shot because he recognised at least one of the robbers.”
Uche, however, was shot after he returned to the scene in search of one Gabriel, his friend, who unknowing to him had fled the scene in search of haven inside the bush.

A viral video captured Uche’s last moment lying in the dark and in the pool of his blood and bowel blown open ostensibly by the guns of the robbers.
Several sources say the African House area of Ogwashi-Uku has become a den of robbers and other criminals who are currently terrorising the Delta Ibo town.
