The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said that he is ready to forgive the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara if he apologizes over the political crisis in the state.

Wike and Fubara have conflicted since shortly after Fubara assumed office as governor in 2023.
Their dispute spilled over into the state House of Assembly, resulting in a division within the legislature.

President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the State following the degeneration of the political crisis into insecurity challenges,

Tinubu also suspended Governor Fubara for an initial six months and appointed a sole administrator over the State.

However, addressing a media parley in Abuja on Friday, Wike said: “Has anybody approached anybody? I don’t like people who are hypocrites. I have told her to mention an elder in Rivers running around the governor who has taken steps to achieve peace.

“At the end of the day, if we don’t achieve anything, we will still go back to square one, which does not make sense.

“The day Mr President intervened, the assembly people immediately withdrew the impeachment notice. I’m open to forgiveness if he comes sincerely.”
