The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ekwe Ibas (Retd) has announced a wide spread suspension of political officeholders and appointees in the state.
The development resignation of the Head of Service of the state, Dr. George Nweke, under curious circumstances on Monday.
The sack was announced via a terse press release, tagged Government Special Announcement, by the Chief of State to the Sole Administrator on Wednesday evening.
The release, made available to our reporter, stated the move was in exercise of the power vested on the administrator by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It read, “The Rivers State Government announces the suspension of political office holders and appointees in Rivers.
“The is pursuant to the powers conferred on the Administrator by the President, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Those suspended included the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Honourable Commissioners, Chairmen and members of all boards, councils of agencies, special advisers, special assistants and senior special assistants.
The state advised those suspended to hand over to the permanent secretaries, and where there are none, they are to hand over to the most senior director/head of administration.”
