The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has embarked on a five-day warning strike starting today due to the government’s failure to address their grievances relating to unpaid allowances, salary arrears, and welfare issues.

The decision to go on strike was announced in a message titled “Declaration of strike action” by the NARD Secretary-General, Dr. Oluwasola Odunbaku, who highlighted the association’s frustration with the government’s lack of response to their demands.

The strike, which officially began at 8:00 am today, is a result of the prolonged inaction by the government on critical issues affecting the welfare of resident doctors in the country. Center leaders have been instructed to ensure that their members adhere to the strike action.

The NARD has indicated that further updates will be provided to its members as the strike progresses, with the hope that the government will take urgent steps to address the concerns raised by the association.
