Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80.

The news of his death was announced on his official Instagram page, @Uma_Ukpai, on Monday, confirming that the revered preacher died on October 6, 2025.

In a statement titled “With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai,” the family expressed profound appreciation to God for the cleric’s impactful life and service to humanity.

“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest,” the statement read.

The family described the late evangelist as a “spiritual general” who devoted over six decades of his life to fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word, and prophetic demonstrations of God’s power—touching millions of lives in Nigeria and beyond.

“He was a founding father of faith, a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many. His life was a testament to God’s power and love,” the statement added.

While the family mourned his passing, they expressed joy that he had “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.” They also noted that details of his burial arrangements would be announced in due course.

Quoting Philippians 1:21, the statement concluded: “For indeed, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, whose ministry was non-denominational, founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association with headquarters in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

He is survived by his wife, children, and numerous spiritual protégés.
