The Gombe State Police Command has announced significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the recovery of a prohibited firearm and the arrest of seven suspects in separate operations across the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. He said operatives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested three young men in possession of a pistol on September 19, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m.
The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Shamsudeen Haruna, 20-year-old Tahir Ismail Ahmad, and 18-year-old Muhammed Abdullahi, all residents of the Doma area behind Government Girls Secondary School, Gombe.
“The suspects were found in possession of the pistol at the time of their arrest. The case is currently under investigation, and further developments will be made public in due course,” Abdullahi stated.
In a separate operation, a patrol team attached to Operation Hattara intercepted four men accused of stealing 226 pieces of iron rods. The suspects were arrested around the Three Arm Zone area along Bauchi Road, Gombe Local Government Area, at about 1:00 a.m. on September 18, 2025.
Those arrested were identified as 47-year-old Sule Isah of Nayinawa Quarters, 40-year-old Mohammed Aliyu of Tumfure, 26-year-old Justine Yila of Nayinawa Quarters, and 26-year-old Sani Job of Barunde Quarters.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. The stolen items have been recovered, and investigations are ongoing to ensure their prosecution,” Abdullahi added.
