The Kebbi State Police Command, in a raid on Tuesday, at the Kuwait area in Birnin Kebbi, arrested no fewer than 165 suspected illegal immigrants from francophone countries.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement, said the intelligence units of the Command who acted on credible information raided the place housing the illegal immigrants and successfully arrested them.
He said investigations revealed that the suspects from Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Ivory Coast were caught doing a Qnet Ponzi scheme in the area where they were apprehended.
Abubakar further disclosed that, after the Police concluded their preliminary investigation, they handed over the suspects to Nigerian immigration for further investigation and actions.
