The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into a distressing incident involving a young woman found unconscious with her hands tied in a hotel room located in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed on Wednesday that FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, has ordered a thorough and discreet probe into the incident, which has drawn widespread attention online.

Preliminary reports indicate that the woman, identified as Aladi Offikwu Johnson—popularly known as Tessy and originally from Benue State—checked into a hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on June 16, 2025, with an unidentified male companion. The man was later seen leaving the hotel alone.

Hotel staff discovered the victim during a routine check and immediately notified the authorities. Medical personnel later confirmed her death.

As the investigation continues, CP Adewale has urged the public to remain calm and allow the police to carry out a full inquiry. He also issued a public safety advisory, particularly directed at young women, emphasizing the need for caution when engaging with unfamiliar individuals and encouraging the practice of sharing one’s whereabouts with trusted contacts.

In addition, the Police Commissioner urged hotel operators to strengthen internal security protocols. These include enforcing guest identity verification procedures and installing reliable surveillance systems to assist in preventing and solving crimes.

The FCT Police Command extended its condolences to the victim’s family and assured the public that every effort is being made to identify and apprehend those responsible. Further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
