A businessman identified as Richard Nomanzi, has been found dead with multiple knife cuts at his residence in Ogbogoro community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Nomanzi, aged 43, who dealt in metal scrap, was found dead on Wednesday after residents raised the alarm about his whereabouts.
It was gathered that neighbors in his compound, perceiving an unpleasant odor from his apartment, alerted the police and his relatives.
Sources disclosed that on entering the apartment, the neighbors saw his lifeless body, and they started shouting at the top of their voices.
A woman simply identified as Gift, who had a child for the deceased, said she learned of the incident from someone who called her on the telephone.
A video of the deceased sighted by our correspondent reports that he had multiple stabs on his body, suggesting that he might have been attacked.
The incident had reportedly been reported to the Ozuoba Police Division under the Choba Area Command.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation was ongoing.
She stated, “Yes, there is a case of sudden and unnatural death. And the police in Ozuoba stormed the place based on information that we received.
“The team said they saw injuries on his body and the matter is under investigation as we speak.”
