The Anambra State Police Command says it has recorded a breakthrough after dismantling an alleged supply chain responsible for providing food and essential logistics to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities in parts of the state.
In a statement issued on December 12, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said a joint security team—comprising operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, and Agunechemba—acted on credible intelligence in the early hours of December 11 and arrested two suspected members of the syndicate.
The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Mmadubuchi Ike and 34-year-old Chinonso Izunobi, were reportedly intercepted while transporting supplies to a criminal camp in the Orsumoghu–Aguluezechukwu axis. Police operatives also recovered one Type 06 rifle with ten rounds of live ammunition, two pump-action guns, and twenty cartridges.
According to the statement, preliminary interrogation linked the suspects to the murder of a youth leader popularly known as “Biggy” in Ukpor, as well as multiple kidnapping incidents across the state.
SP Ikenga added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has assured residents that investigations are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the group.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely information, noting that the Command is committed to safeguarding all communities, especially during the festive period.
