The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers and recovered two vehicles believed to have been stolen by them.
Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga revealed in a statement on Monday in Awka that the suspects were arrested on May 30 by officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, at Agukwu-Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.
The arrests followed intelligence obtained from an armed robbery suspect currently in police custody.
The suspects—Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu—are males aged between 27 and 32.
Recovered from the suspects were a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC (registration KWC 140), an ash-colored Lexus 350 (registration 669 CY), two high-end mobile phones, and a pump-action gun.
SP Ikenga added that the police are intensifying efforts to track down other gang members still at large.
“We have expanded investigations and urge the public to provide credible information that will aid our fight against crime in the state. This development reflects the command’s proactive stance in combating criminal activities,” he said.
