The police have arrested four suspects for allegedly impersonating the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in a land scam that reportedly defrauded a retired military officer and other victims of over N150 million.
The prime suspect, Yashim Kajang, was apprehended on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, for allegedly deceiving victims, including Major General A. K. Ibrahim (retd), under the guise of facilitating land transactions in the Guzape II Cadastral Zone of Abuja.
According to investigators, Kajang claimed to have close ties with the FCT Minister and officials of the Lands Department, using the alleged connections to convince victims to part with large sums of money. He reportedly collected over N150 million with promises to deliver documents for Plot 1985, a three-hectare parcel of land in Guzape II, as well as other plots.
During interrogation, Kajang allegedly identified three accomplices — Stephen Mhambe, Danladi Jatau, and Terngu Ipaven — as collaborators in the scheme. Mhambe and Jatau were said to be staff of the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA).
Police findings indicate that the trio provided Kajang with land-related data and information, which he used to carry out the fraudulent transactions.
All four suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
