Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested 27 suspects following a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Kawo area of Kaduna.
During the operation, security personnel recovered a range of dangerous weapons—including knives, axes, and cutlasses—as well as quantities of suspected hard drugs and dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
The command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Monday. He explained that the operation was part of ongoing efforts directed by the Commissioner of Police to root out criminal elements destabilizing peace in certain parts of the state.
According to Hassan, the raids were conducted as a joint operation involving the Police, Military, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Kaduna State Vigilante Service. The tactical sweep carried out on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., targeted the Kawo area and its environs.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Kaduna State.
