The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists with arms and ammunition in Edo State.
The suspects, reportedly identified as Osamudiamen James, 44, and Omokaro Joseph, 44, were arrested by operatives of the command’s Raiders Squad.
Umoru Ozigi, the state Commissioner of Police, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, said the suspects were members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.
Ozigi said one of the suspects, James, was arrested at Iyekemuose Street, Benin City.
He said James led operatives of the command to their armory, where one Omokaro Joseph, aka Joe Best, who is in charge of the armory, escaped arrest.
The Commissioner added that the operatives, however, trailed Omokaro Joseph and arrested him.
According to him, during interrogation, James confessed to being a member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity and led operatives to their armory, where one Omokaro Joseph, aka Joe Best, who is in charge of the armory, escaped arrest.
Ozigi said Omokaro confessed to having sold guns to several individuals within Benin and its environs.
He added that during the investigation, five pump action guns, three single barrel guns, and eighteen 18 cartridges were recovered from him.
He said the suspects would be charged to Court after investigations.
