There seems to be no let-up in the ongoing mayhem ravaging Plateau State in North Central Nigeria as armed gangs attacked Zogu village in Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, killing a father and his two sons.

It was gathered that a 56-year-old man, Weyi Gebeh, and his two sons, Zhu and Henry, aged 25 and 16 respectively, were hacked to death in their sleep by the marauders.

Naija Daily News recalls that no fewer than 100 persons have been either shot or hacked to death by rampaging militias and tribal warlords in the last couple of weeks.

The spokesperson for the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Sam Jugo, who confirmed the incident, told journalists in Jos on Saturday, “The leadership of the Irigwe Development Association has received reports of another deadly attack on Zogu village.”

“This heinous act claimed the lives of a father and his two sons while they slept. It is barbaric and deeply troubling,” Jugo said, adding that the latest killings took the death toll in the area to nine within one week.

He expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in Irigwe land and urged security agencies to act swiftly.

“The frequency and impunity with which these attacks are carried out suggest a motive beyond simple reprisals,” he added. “We call on the Plateau State Government and security operatives to take decisive action to halt these senseless killings and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Efforts to reach the spokespersons of Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom, and the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
