The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the postponement of the screening exercise for aspirants ahead of its 2025 elective national convention.

In a statement on Monday, the party said the exercise, which was earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, had been put on hold due to “unforeseen circumstances.”

“The National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has put on hold the screening of aspirants for the 2025 Elective National Convention due to unforeseen circumstances,” the statement read.

The announcement was signed by the Chairman of the NCOC and Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, who assured party members that a new date would be communicated in due course.

“The NCOC regrets any inconvenience caused by the postponement and remains committed to delivering a credible, hitch-free 2025 Elective National Convention on Saturday, 15th to Sunday, 16th November 2025, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital,” Fintiri stated.

He urged all aspirants and members of the party to take note of the development and await further communication.

Meanwhile, preparations for the convention have continued as Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, inaugurated the Accreditation and Special Duties Subcommittees of the PDP in Abuja.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the governor said the inauguration, held at the Legacy House in Maitama, was part of efforts to ensure a transparent and credible convention.

“To the men and women selected to serve on this subcommittee, I extend a special welcome,” Lawal said. “You have been chosen not for a routine task, but for one of the most critical assignments in our democratic process. The work you are about to undertake is the foundation upon which a credible, transparent, and successful convention will be built.”
