The All-Progressives’ Congress (APC) in Delta State is bracing for a mass registration of new members following the gale of decampment from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the party on Wednesday.
Naija Daily News recalls that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and five-term Senator James Manager, along with the party’s leadership in the 25 LGAs led the whirlwind of defections from the PDP.
Consequently, it was gathered that the APC had begun distributing registration booklets to welcome new members and directed Local Government Chairmen to collect them, marking a strategic effort to integrate the influx of new members into the party.
Valentine Onojeghuo Esq.., the APC State Publicity Secretary, emphasised the importance of the registration process, saying it will strengthen the party’s grassroots and ensure a smooth transition for those joining the APC.
“Registering new members is a critical step in fully incorporating them into the party structure. We encourage all new members to visit their local ward chairmen to complete their registration and become official members,” Onojeghuo said.
As part of the APC’s broader vision for Delta State, the leadership highlighted that this integration process is essential for building a “brighter future” for the region. The APC’s efforts come as the party positions itself for future electoral success, with an increasing number of former PDP members joining its ranks.
Omeni Sobotie, APC State Chairman, has instructed Local Government Chairmen to report to the APC State Secretariat in Asaba on April 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. to collect the registration booklets. These will be distributed to ward chairmen, who will be responsible for issuing official membership cards to the new members.
“The growing membership is a clear reflection of the rising confidence in our leadership and our message of unity and progress,” the APC statement read. “These new members will play a vital role in shaping the future of the APC in Delta State.”
The APC also emphasized that this surge in membership is crucial to its vision of “Renewed Hope” for the people of Delta as the party prepares for future elections and political challenges.
