The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued certificates of expulsion to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and 10 other members earlier sanctioned by the party. National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, disclosed this to journalists after the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Others affected include the embattled National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; the Legal Adviser, Kamarudeen Ajibade; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; Austin Nwachukwu; Abraham Amah Nnanna; George Turna; and Chief Dan Orbih. They were all expelled during the party’s national convention in Lagos.

Turaki said the original copies of the certificates had been sent to the affected members via courier as formal proof of their expulsion. He explained that the move was also to ensure compliance with Nigerian laws, which prohibit dual membership of political parties.

“Now that they are no longer members of our party, and now that the National Convention has expelled them, we have decided to issue them certificates of expulsion so they can show proof when registering with other political parties,” Turaki said.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to take note, warning that anyone who engages politically with the expelled members does so at their own risk.

Turaki also revealed that the NWC reviewed several pending legal cases involving the party, including suits concerning the “unlawful and illegal” closure of the PDP’s national secretariat, the Legacy House, and the Wadata Plaza. According to him, the party’s lawyers have assured the NWC that it is on “sound ground” and expects the law to take its course soon.

Reaffirming the party’s resolve, Turaki said the NWC remained committed to providing credible opposition and leadership, with its sights set on reclaiming power in the 2027 elections.
