The Independent National Elections Commission, INEC, could declare the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State in just a matter of hours as the commission has now uploaded about 99% of results on its IREV portals.

The development came amidst commendation from independent observer groups, including YIAGA Africa.

Yiaga board member, Prof Nnamdi Aduba, who monitored the in Ondo East and West, said, “The experience is quite rewarding, unlike what I experienced in Edo State.

“We saw quite many people coming out. What I appreciate most is the attitude of the security officials – the police, army, and NSCDC they were coming out and much more pleasant. They didn’t ask any sort of irrelevant questions.”

He commended the agents for being polite and providing assistance to election observers.”

Information garnered from the commission’s website, www.inecelectionresults,ng, showed that 3875 of the 3933 polling units are now live on the IREV portal.

With this development, the winner of the contest between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his challengers from the 16 other political parties could be known by latest the early hours of Sunday.
