The Director General, of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has debunked the report that the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, IMF, have concluded plans to hand a massive N57.5bn to Biafra.
The WTO DG was reacting to a post by Simeon Ekpa, a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who claimed that the fund was for the purported Biafra Republic Government in Exile.

Okonjo-Iweala: No sensible person will believe that
Writing in her verified X (former Twitter) account, she said, “I know no sensible person will believe what is contained in the outrageous tweet below but in these troubled times it is important to underscore that the statement is false.
“Again, I enjoin all those seeking to misuse my name to desist!”
Despite Dr Okonjo-Iweala’s rebuttal, Naija Daily News learned that the false claim by Ekpa has set Biafra enthusiasts into wild jubilation across the Southeast
In a social media post, the Finland-based Ekpa claimed: “The World Bank and IMF have agreed to loan the sum of $57.5 billion to Biafra Republic Government in Exile.”
The fund, according to him, was to form a government after the December 2, 2024 declaration of Biafra.
“I thank our dear sister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for helping me to facilitate the loan,” added.
