The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 22-year-old man for attempting to rape two women he caught allegedly stealing pepper from a farm in the Ita-Olokan area of Osogbo.

In a statement released on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, said the suspect confronted the women despite not being the owner of the farm. He allegedly threatened to report them to security operatives unless they agreed to his sexual demands.

According to Adeleke, the women pleaded with the suspect, but he insisted that the only way to avoid being reported was to allow him to have sexual intercourse with them.

“One of the women managed to escape,” Adeleke said.

“The suspect then overpowered the other, assaulted her, and attempted to force himself on her. He confessed that although he did not succeed in penetrating her, he lay on her and ejaculated out of fear that the other woman might return with help.

”In a separate case, the NSCDC also arrested two individuals for trespassing and illegal sand excavation on government land in the Oke-Osun area. The suspects allegedly destroyed boundary markers and were found to be selling the excavated sand to unsuspecting buyers.

Commandant of the Osun NSCDC, Igbalawole Sotiyo, reiterated the Corps’ determination to rid the state of criminal elements and urged residents to report
