The meeting, organized by the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, under the theme “Niger Delta Women: Empowerment as a Panacea for Peace, Stability and Economic Growth,” brought together women from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

They voiced concerns over individuals and groups allegedly seeking to incite unrest for personal gain.

During the event, the participants unanimously called on their children and community members to avoid involvement in any protests against the government.

They urged a collective effort to allow the Tinubu administration the necessary time and space to address the country’s challenges.

Madam Beauty Warejuowei, a prominent women leader in the Niger Delta, read the communique, emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of opportunities provided by the government.

“When you appoint the right people into the right positions, you begin to see positive results,” she stated, reinforcing confidence in the current administration’s direction.

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, who addressed the assembly, praised the women for their ongoing contributions to regional peace and stability.

He underscored the pivotal role women play in fostering harmony in the Niger Delta, asserting, “The destiny of Niger Delta is in the hands of women.”

The meeting concluded with assurances from PAP officials regarding continued support for women’s empowerment through vocational training, grants, and scholarships. This commitment aims to enhance the socio-economic prospects of women in the region.

Prominent figures in attendance included leading activists like Mrs. Ann-Kio Briggs and Chief Mrs. Vero Tamgbowe, alongside representatives from the Ijaw Youth Council. Their participation highlighted a united front among Niger Delta women in support of their government and a peaceful approach to regional development.
