It was disgrace in uniform as the Nigerian Navy has kicked out a Lieutenant and thrown him behind bars for three years — all for bedding a colleague’s wife.

The randy officer’s fall from grace followed a damning verdict of a Special Court Martial (SCM) that found him guilty of “scandalous conduct” and other serious offences.

Military sources told Naija Daily News that the verdict, confirmed by Naval Headquarters, Abuja, stripped him of his rank and future in the force. His punishment took effect on November 23, 2024, and was carried out in public at the Navy Institute of Technology, Sapele, last Friday.

The disgraced Lieutenant faced four charges, including having unlawful sex with a serviceman’s wife, disgraceful conduct unbecoming of an officer, and deceiving witnesses — offences under the Armed Forces Act and the Criminal Code.

Officials insist due process was followed, and a legal review upheld the trial’s outcome. With the Navy Board’s approval, the hammer fell: dismissal and jail.

For now, the once-proud officer has traded his smart white uniform for prison garb — his career sunk in scandal.
