A Magistrate Court sitting in Ijebu Imusin Magisterial District of Ogun State has sentenced one Abiodun Ajao to 6 years imprisonment for stealing a customer’s car.

He was sentenced on a three-count charge bordering on stealing, conversion, and malicious damage, which contravenes Sections 390, 434, and 451 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State.

Ajao, a mechanic based in Lagos, was arrested in Ijebu Imusin by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ijebu East Central Division, Esure Ijebu Imusin.

The 27-year-old convict reportedly drove the Honda Accord from Lagos to Idona, Ijebu Imusin, and dismembered the vehicle for sale to intending buyers before he was arrested.

On his arrest, the NSCDC State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter for further and proper action to be taken.

However, Magistrate Sotayo of the Ijebu Imusin Magisterial District on Monday sentenced Ajao on a three-count charge.

The defendant, Abiodun Ajao, pleaded guilty to the three-count charges before him and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment on each count charge, which is to run consecutively.
