The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 39-year-old man, Ifeanyi Odinka, for allegedly stabbing his 75-year-old father, Dennis Odinka, to death during a dispute over proceeds from a land sale in Orlu.
Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, said in a statement on Wednesday night that the incident occurred on August 12, 2025, in Amaifeke, Orlu Local Government Area.
According to him, the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate incident, Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel, 32, of Authentic Power City Church, was arrested alongside one Franklin Chizoba for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman under the pretense of conducting special prayers.
Okoye explained that the suspects, both from Umuobom in Ideato South LGA, lured the victim to Emmanuel’s residence on June 30, 2025. There, she was given a drug-laced drink that made her dizzy, after which both men allegedly assaulted her.
The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and also admitted to engaging in homosexual acts. They were arraigned in court on Tuesday, August 12, and remanded at the Correctional Facility in Owerri pending trial.
The Imo State Police Command reiterated its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring public safety. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
