The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Chukwudalu Ezeani, for allegedly killing his cousin, Chinedu Ezeani, and concealing the crime for about eight months in Afube village, Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect was said to have committed the crime on August 1, 2025, at about 8 p.m., at his residence, where he allegedly killed the 52-year-old victim and buried his body in a shallow grave within his compound.

Confirming the development in a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, uncovered the case after it was initially reported as a missing person incident at Amichi Police Station.

According to him, detectives revisited the case following credible intelligence, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Ikenga said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and subsequently led police operatives to the burial site within his compound, where the corpse was exhumed.

He noted that the remains of the deceased have been deposited for necessary forensic examination, while the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police spokesperson reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
