A man identified as Abubakar Ijidai has allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend and fatally wounded her mother in the Dille District of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Borno State.
The incident was reported on Sunday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via a post on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the report, the attack occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, when 18-year-old Lami Azuba and her 38-year-old mother, Hauwa Azuba, were assaulted with a machete while working on their farmland.
Ijidai, who hails from the same district, fled the scene immediately after the attack, leaving both women critically injured.
Police officers from the Lassa Police Outpost later responded and transported the victims to the General Hospital in Lassa. Hauwa Azuba was pronounced dead on arrival, while her daughter was transferred to the General Hospital in Mubi, Adamawa State, due to the severity of her injuries.
Hauwa’s remains were handed over to her family for burial by Christian rites.
Makama noted that police are actively working to apprehend the suspect and ensure he is brought to justice.
