Four people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following a lightning strike in the Kantar Uban Daba community of Rimi Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening amid heavy rainfall. Three of the victims died instantly, while a fourth succumbed to injuries on Thursday evening.
Some of the injured were treated at the Rimi General Hospital, with about five individuals still receiving medical care at the time of reporting.
The deceased have been laid to rest by Islamic rites.
Following the incident, community members and sympathisers have continued to visit the families of the deceased to offer condolences. Among the early visitors was the Executive Chairman of Rimi LGA, Hon. Muhammad Ali, who extended his sympathies to the grieving families.
Ali also visited the five hospitalised victims and two others who had since been discharged. He urged the families to accept the loss as an act of God and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and the prevention of similar tragedies in the future.
He was accompanied by his deputy, Nura Abdullahi, and other council officials.
